The role
Reporting into the Senior Manufacturing Scientist or Principal Scientist position, the role of the Process Development Scientist will primarily undertake Technical Transfer activities to achieve project goals and milestones, and to meet project targets.
These activities will be performed across a brand-new multi-product state of the art manufacturing facility as well and newly equipped research and development laboratories. Dosage forms include, but are not limited to, tablets, capsules, liquids, inhalers, and nasal devices.
Activities will be focused on technical transfer manufacturing on projects spanning from Phase 1 through to late phase/commercial but, will also include some aspects of clinical manufacturing and equipment/facility cleaning.
Main duties and responsibilities
- Undertake manufacturing activities as directed, using the company’s processes safely to meet batch production requirements.
- Operate various equipment involved in the manufacturing and testing of products, at various batch scales.
- Data interpretation with a senior/principal scientist to make key formulation/processing decisions to progress a project.
- Support in generation of data presentations for customers on a weekly/fortnightly basis.
- Support in the generation of technical transfer and technical batch reports for internal and customer approvals.
- Complete all documentation accurately in full to support technical batch manufacturing activities including logbooks, batch records and log cards.
- Manage and maintain equipment and the manufacturing facility, including cleaning duties.
- Support in the procurement, receipt and booking in of raw materials.
- Work and adhere to the Upperton Quality Management System.
Preferred skills and experience
- Educated to degree level or higher in a related scientific/technical discipline or have relevant work experience.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Excellent organisation skills with strong attention to detail.
- Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to effectively contribute within a team environment and work on own initiative.
- Strong focus on quality and safety.
- Knowledge of statistical analysis to support in late stage design of experiments data interpretation (preferred).
