Overview

Upperton Pharma Solutions is a Nottingham-based CDMO that specialises in the development and manufacture of pharmaceutical products, providing a complete service from early-stage feasibility to GMP clinical manufacture. Formulations cover a range of delivery routes, typically including oral (tablets & capsules), nasal and inhaled.

Continued growth and investment into the business has led to the creation of exciting new job opportunities; in our new GMP Manufacturing headquarters in Beeston, Nottingham. Upperton Pharma Solutions is undergoing a period of significant expansion to meet international customer demand and offer a comprehensive drug development portfolio, so now is a great time to join our team.

Development Scientists work within our R&D department to develop new and existing drug products as part of client programmes. Technologies used include spray drying, micronisation and lipidic formulation development, and dosage forms include tablets, capsules, liquids, inhalers, and nasal devices. A range of material sciences characterisation equipment, as well as conventional analytical equipment (e.g. HPLC) is used to support development activities.

Main duties and responsibilities:

  • Manage own practical and written project work as directed, using the company’s processes safely to meet project requirements.
  • Operate various equipment involved in the manufacturing and testing of materials and products, at laboratory and pilot scale.
  • Complete accurate process documentation to support laboratory work, manufacturing and quality control including operating records, lab books, batch records and project reports.
  • Prepare technical documentation such as standard operating procedures and risk assessments.
  • Work within the Upperton Quality System.

  • Must have excellent communication, influencing and problem-solving skills.

  • Provides technical input to own projects.
  • Ability to effectively contribute within a team environment and work on own initiative.
  • Meticulous attention to detail.
  • Excellent planning and organisational skills.

Desirable Experience:

  • Able to support junior staff in project-based activities, providing leadership in laboratory activities.
  • Provides technical input to own project.
  • Previous experience in a laboratory-based role at another CXO or similar organisation.
