Development Manager

Upperton Pharma Solutions is a Nottingham-based CDMO that specialises in the development and manufacture of pharmaceutical products, providing a complete service from early-stage feasibility to GMP clinical manufacture. Formulations cover a range of delivery routes, typically including oral (tablets & capsules), nasal and inhaled.

The Development Manager will manage scientific staff and project work to achieve project goals and milestones, ensuring project documentation is completed as required, including data analysis, project updates and reports. The Development Manager will interact directly with clients to ensure study requirements are met.

Main duties and responsibilities:

  • Manage and oversee Development projects, delegating where necessary and organise team and personal workload efficiently.
  • Work directly with clients or their representatives, ensuring agreed timelines are met on client projects, and that work is completed to a high standard.
  • Operate in a cross-functional manner with teams including Manufacturing, Analytical, Quality & Regulatory.
  • Provide technical input and leadership with regard to incoming R&D activities.
  • Guide team members in practical and written project work, ensuring scientific staff use the company’s processes safely to meet requirements. Ensure accurate completion of process documentation supporting laboratory work including lab books, development reports, batch records, project reports, SOPs and risk assessments.
  • Design, implement and report investigative studies to resolve technical issues.
  • Maintain consistently high standards of supervision of team members · Manage the maintenance and operation of equipment, and training of staff. ·
  • Work within the Upperton Quality System.

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Extensive experience in solid dosage formulation
  • Can demonstrate confidence in decision-making and facilitating change.
  • Can lead on technical discussions with clients.
  • Ability to effectively contribute within a team environment and work on own initiative.
  • Meticulous attention to detail.
  • Excellent planning and organisational skills.
  • Ability to work accurately under pressure and to meet deadlines.
